529 West Hickory Street - Hinsdale

Project Overview

The casual elegance of a stately, yet comfortable, family home would best describe the overall look and feel of this "new-vintage" Colonial Revival style home to be built at 529 West Hickory Street in the charming Village of Hinsdale, Illinois.

A curving driveway embraced by artfully-groomed hedges and specimen trees will greet visitors as they approach the covered portico of this "new-vintage" home.  The elegantly-proportioned portico, with it's built-in benches, historically-inspired top rail and finials, detailed entablature, and tapered Doric columns set the tone for what lies beyond the pair of carved wood and leaded glass front doors.

The custom-milled staircases, cabinetry, moldings, doors, windows, and five fireplaces within the graciously proportioned interior will be expertly crafted as if they were constructed more than a century ago.  The stone terrace, located just outside the family room, breakfast area, and kitchen, has been designed to accommodate large parties as well as intimate family gatherings around the outdoor limestone fireplace.

A three car garage, it's rear yard location meant to enhance the home's historic appearance, has been designed to function like a modern coach house.  The dormered space over the garage, easily accessible from the home's mudroom, could serve as an office, a nanny quarters, or a temporary "away-suite" for a returning college student.

After all of the construction dust has settled, guests to the new-vintage home at 529 West Hickory Street will not know, unless tipped-off, if the house they are visiting has been recently constructed or carefully maintained for many decades. That, in essence, is the goal.
